Apple 3G S iPhones Potentially Capable of Running Full HD 1080p Media Clips

Previously we mentioned about the teardown analysis that showed a 720p HD capable processor being embedded in Apple latest’s iPhone 3G S, but in actual fact, the processor is claimed to be capable of delivering 1080p full HD media decode capability based on testing conducted by a forum member at Weiphone.

During the testing, a full HD with 1920 X 1080 resolution media clip was copied from PC then played in iPhone and surprisingly, it is claimed to be able to run smoothly at 30 fps (Frame per second) without any lagging. Furthermore, the media playback was run on its original iPhone player without any tweaking or third party software assist. If this is true, quite interesting and wonder why Apple Inc doesn’t advertise its full capability as the best mobile device in terms of media playback. Some do speculate that the main concerns could be due to the excessive power drawn when the processor was run at full speed, which eventually impact the battery life to be used as a conventional mobile device. Besides, HD video generally consumes much more storage space and can easily take up the full capacity available even at 32GB maximum storage.

Nevertheless, with current capability of

Motorola Plans for First Android-based IDEN Phone on 2010

We have been seeing new gadgets such as netbooks, nettops, smartphones being powered by Android OS (Operating System), but seems that Motorola, the famous 2-ways radios manufacturer is also interested to let his iDEN phones preloaded with Android OS. Named as Opus 1, it is the first Android-based iDEN phone that will be manufactured by Mirs, an Israel-based subsidiary targeted for niche commercial market.

Opus 1 will be supporting data and Internet access through WiFi connectivity and voice call through its IDEN infrastructure networks. Although it seems to be weird to have this OS installed in its iDEN technology handsets at the first place, but this will definitely help to trigger some volume boost since Android has becomes one of the preferred OS in smartphone market.

No official details on it yet, the Android based device is expected to reach Israel commercial market by early of 2010, which will be slightly behind Samsung’s plan to push its Android-based i7500 to the market by September time frame. Apparently, Google’s Android OS can be fitted well in various market segments without being limited by only smartphone and netbook usages.

Mobile Manufacturers Agreed to Standardize Charger Units in Europe Market

As a huge initiative effort towards greener environment, the European Commission has been working hard in standardizing mobile phone chargers with the hope that these chargers can be cross shared and more importantly allows consumers to reuse some of the existing chargers even when the users have upgraded to a newer phone in the future. Good news now, most of the mobile phone manufacturers in Europe countries have agreed to adopt the new proposal for the benefits of all.

Some of the manufacturers include the famous Nokia, Apple, RIM (Research in Motion), Sony Ericsson and many more with few of them are expected to start offering the universal chargers as early as 2010 timeframe. Although it is only limited to European countries for the start, but the standardization effort may impact as much as 30 different kinds of standard chargers which accommodating for over 400 million mobile phones in European market currently.

The benefits are obvious, just imagine that now you can always get the same types of chargers regardless whether you own multiple mobile devices with different brand and model and more importantly, it will help to conserve the environment by reducing the scrapped charger units significantly whenever users upgrade their new mobile devices.

If the effort is successful, you may no longer able to find the mobile charger that used to be bundled in new mobile phone package since there is no point to push them into market other than as a defective replacement purpose.
